When asked about my faith, it’s easier to tell people I’m atheist than to explain the following, and therefore instigate a heated debate

Blind faith irks me. I can respect any and all religions (though I don’t fully agree with any of them, and I do think that the concept of organized religion as a whole is harmful to society) but I think subscribing to any form of religion or belief system without acknowledging the fact that there are other possibilities is completely ignorant and moronic. No one knows all the answers to life’s many questions. If you did, there would be no reason for you to be here. I have my beliefs and theories, but my main thought on the meaning of life and a higher power is that we are simply not supposed to know. I’m not writing this to preach about my spiritual views. I’m simply saying that I admit that my beliefs are theories. I have never, nor will I ever say that my belief system is the definite and singular answer to it all. Additionally, why are those who are apart of certain religions such as christianity so willing to believe in G-O-D, but so unwilling to believe in the paranormal, the supernatural, and things that cannot be experienced using the physical 5 senses? Why are they so willing to believe in this man in the sky watching over them and the constant threat of being sent to burn in hell? Because that’s what they’ve been taught their whole lives? Why are these stories of the bible so widely accepted but any other far-fetched or seemingly fictitious theories rejected and criticized? I often wonder how different the world would be if everyone became more open to other possibilities.

that being said, I would also like to take this time to give a heartfelt fuck you to anyone who has ever try to force their belief system on others, or to use organized religion as a form of control over a particular group or individual.
